The demonetization of high denomination notes of 500 and 1000 on November 8 th , 2016 was a bold step taken by the Government of India. The government has made almost 86% of the currency in circulation out of the legal tender within a midnight. Its repercussions are still a controversial and vital topic of discussion in all spheres of Indian society. This substantive economic reform is meant to curb black money and counterfeit money and to encourage the move towards “Digital Currency”. Albeit the positive intention of government, withdrawing 86% of money in circulation has lead to huge cash shortages in all sectors and made Indian Economy a standstill. Even though the chaos made by demonetization to Indian society is debatable, it is true that the nation has experienced a downturn in economic indicators. This persuaded the authorities to take expansionary monetary and fiscal policies. It is in this juncture RBI has cut down monetary policy rates while the central government decides to infuse 2.11 lakh crore to the economy for recapitalisation of Public Sector Banks and to boost public spending. This sudden move quoted as “shock doctrine” however is described to benefit in the long run. The infusion of demand deposits in banks is indicative of an increased level of savings and thereby investments that will pave way to long term growth. After one year of demonetization, a high time is felt to discuss and review the effects of demonetization. As such the colloquium aims to unveil – ?
Whether the goals of De-monetization have been really achieved? ?
Does De-monetization made the economy in chaos? ?
Whether the measures taken by Reserve Bank and Govt.of India towards Re- monetization are successful?

KERALA KITCHEN 2014 ON 26/02/2014
Kerala is known as the "Land of Spices". Even the Kerala cuisine is known for its spicy and hot foods. The Kerala food is generally fresh, aromatic and flavored. The staple food of Kerala, like most South-Indian states, is rice. Unlike other states, however, many people in Kerala prefer parboiled rice (Choru) (rice made nutritious by boiling it with rice husk). Kanji (rice congee), a kind of rice porridge, is also popular. Jack Fruit, called Chakka and Tapioca, called Kappa in Kerala is popular in central Kerala and in the highlands, and is frequently eaten with Chammanthi. Almost every dish prepared in Kerala has coconut and spices to flavour the local cuisine giving it a sharp pungency that is heightened with the use of tamarind, while coconut gives it its richness, absorbing some of the tongue-teasing, pepper-hot flavours. Studies say that our new generation is forbidden from tasty and healthy Malayalam food habits whereas our generation unintentionally force them affix with foreign delicacies. Trends observed among Malayalees is that they are fascinated for takeaway foods and an inclination towards other cuisines including Chinese, Arabian, Italian, Spanish, Mexican etc. The reason is lack of time and awareness of our traditional dishes. The Dept of Commerce has realized this notion and has implemented an action plan - KERALA KITCHEN 2014 as a answer to a simple question is, "If we do not protect our traditions, then who will? This portal provides Kerala recipes which anyone can cook without spending lot of time in kitchen. This portal is not intended against any foreign food traditions. It is equally qualitative to Kerala recipes. KERALA KITCHEN 2014 - a traditional food fest conducted on 26.02.2014 provided a chance for the students to recollect those traditional foods and rejuvenate their taste buds. The recipes provided in this traditional food fest maintained a clear balance between the ingredients and the taste by completely avoiding artificial flavors and colors. Thus the main focus was on health having a minimal compromise on the taste factor. The recipes were Kanji, Kappa Puzhukk , Chakka Puzhukk, Vazhapinndi thoran and Ulli Chammanthi. Tradtitional cookware and utensils were used to cook the food. All the recipes provided were tested and tasted by Mr.K.M.Hamza,Treasurer,Al-Ameen Educational Trust, Mr.K.M. Shamsuddin, Convenor,NAAC Accreditation Committee, Prof. Mohammed Thahir A.A. Joint Convenor, NAAC Accreditation Committee. The three trust members featured about need based life activities..Principal Prof.Abdul Karim spoke on the occasion about the meaningful and purposive manual work organized as a part of the learning process and resulting into goods and services useful to the community. The staff and students enthusiastically hosted the occasion. Active participation of the members of Kudumbasree units of Edathala Panchayath and students from other departments added color to this initiative.
