The official inauguration ceremony of the Nature Club activities for the academic year 2022-23 began at the Seminar Hall on 19th September 2022 at 10:30 am. The day was also celebrated as the World Ozone Day, which falls every year on 16th September to commemorate the signing of Montreal Protocol. The event was presided over by Dr. Cini Kurian, Principal, Al-Ameen College, Edathala and Mr. P K Ramachandran, ex – Coordinator, Biodiversity Board, Ernakulam District.

Asst Prof. Shania Mary Jose, Nature Club Coordinator, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Cini Kurian spoke to the students about the significance of preserving nature and why it is important to go green for all our initiatives. She also highlighted the activities undertaken by the Nature Club and the associated clubs like Forestry Club, Biodiversity Club and Bhoomitrasena Club. She also reminded the students that unless each one of them pledges to make their environment cleaner and greener, we cannot protect our Mother Earth.

During the keynote address, Mr, P K Ramachandran elaborated on the importance of observing Ozone Day. He explained in detail from the basics of what is ozone to how ozone gets depleted and what we can do to stop the depletion. He also discussed the different types of pollution and how it affects our environment. His style of narration was quite captivating and the students enjoyed the session thoroughly. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Asst Prof. Jiss Theres, Coordinator, Forestry club.
